Rookie of the Year

With these accomplishments, it is not hard to see why Peterson has become rookie of the year. Even after missing two games from a knee injury, he took the vote by a near unanimous decision. There were two different games in which Peterson also had incredibly good rushing yard stats, bringing 296 yards again San Diego, and also 224 yards against Chicago. So, during just his first fourteen games, Peterson seems to have sent a message to both players and football fans alike and that message seems to be that he is here, he is real, and he is ready to play ball.

It is interesting to note that Peterson didn’t start a game for the Vikings until the sixth game of the season. After his amazing game against the Bears, Brad Childress had no choice but to turn the rookie loose. Everyone who met Adrian always said that he had a great attitude, and came in to help the team as best he could. He is the fifth Viking to win the Rookie of the Year award, an honor he shares with names like Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, Billy Sims, and Eric Dickerson. He has said that he is honored to just be a part of such a group. But, it seems like he isn’t just included he has deservedly earned his place in the Viking lineup.

So, what is Minnesota expecting from their new star? Greatness? Dependability? New game records? Pretty much anyone will tell you that the Vikings are looking for one thing in young Peterson they want him to play his heart out, and leave it on the field, because as he showed them his rookie year, when he does that, well its the other team that has something to worry about.
