NFL Rushing Record
Adrian Peterson lost a fourth quarter fumble at the San Diego 20 yard line a mistake that would normally, in this close of a game, would have given the game over to the other team. But the young Viking, who would later come to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year, had different plans in store for his team. Now, minutes later, the ball was back in his hands. Rumbling around the right end, he paused to allow the blocks to get set. Than, with that unique and powerful sprint that his teammates have come to recognize as his own, he blasted 46 yards up the sideline clinching the game-winner for Minnesota, and leading his team to victory.
Could he have done it alone? Of course not! Could the team have done it without him? Doubtful! You see, this was a game unlike any other. This was the game where Adrian Peterson set the new NFL single season rushing record, which he slammed by going 296 yards at the midpoint of his first pro season. Is that good? Yes. Is that great? Definitely! Adrian Peterson is a young player who, if he keeps up his outstanding work ethic and good spirit, will rise to the top.
When asked if he had the record on his mind, he simply replied Oh, no, I was out playing ball. I wasn't thinking about the record at all. . Well, it seems that the single game rushing record isn't all that the young rookie might have on his pallet if he keeps it up. On 30 carries, Adrian has succeeded in topping the 200 yard rushing mark fort he second time in one season, a feat which no other rookie has accomplished to date. Also, he scored two of his three touchdowns and gained 253 of his yards in the second half of the game, helping his team to come back from a negative 7 deficit in points.
Is Adrian Peterson a player to watch? Yes, yes, yes. With a spectacular college record under his belt, and an even more incredible rookie NFL season, Adrian has all the makings of a great football career on his plate. He has proved that by working hard, acquiring good habits, and dedicating yourself, anything is possible. So, he is a pretty good role model as well as a young football star. Yes, it seems that greatness is the destiny of this new young rookie, Adrian Peterson.
